Fowey Hall Hotel, Cornwall
Fowey Hall, the UK’s most child friendly hotel, Cornwall. Fowey rhymes with Joy and that completely summed up our stay @foweyhall by The luxuryfamilyhotels group, pure JOY! // ad invite.
Last April in the Easter holidays we had the best stay in Cornwall. I’d heard nothing but good things about Fowey Hall, we stayed at their sister property the Ickworth the summer before, but this was just another level & exceeded all expectations. There really is nowhere else like it for families in England. Here are some things we loved;
Things we LOVED -
All the equipment you’d need baby/toddler wise is provided, it makes packing so much easier. They even have buggies to borrow. Staff will call you before your stay to see what equipment you need in your room/bathroom. Everything from potty training steps to travel cots to changing mats.
- The pools! Indoor & outdoor - which makes it feel like you’re abroad when it’s sunny, both properly heated and with no limit to kids swim time
- The beautiful beautiful hotel/building/interiors, it’s all just been renovated, & amazing location on top of Fowey a perfect Cornish fishing village & Readymoney cove beach both just a 10 minute, buggy friendly, walk away.
- A @yotoplay player & book full of a big range of cards in every room, our kids listen every night so this made it home from home.
- Heavy, properly dark curtains for good sleep!
- The huge range of great activities for children of all ages & families plus 90 minutes of childcare included every day of your stay! Our children LOVED this, they did so many amazing things there, giving us some quality time for us. We had a breakfast feast on our own, the dream!
- there’s a board with daily activities on including kids cinema screenings.
- The fact you can go to the four bears den playroom at 7am if you have early risers!
- A library full of books and a nightly evening story with cookies & milk. Our children loved padding downstairs in their cute hotel dressing gowns to choose a book.
- A milk ‘butler’ whenever your children need it
- An amazing breakfast buffet, dinner cooked fast for hungry children & Liewood bibs/plates/colouring/games/crudities & houmous ready as soon as you sit down!
- A relaxing spa to retreat to, they even have mini children’s treatments for 3 years +
- The zip line & outdoor play area overlooking the sea brought lots of delight
- everywhere is dog friendly too, even the restaurants
- Just be aware that your children probably won’t want to leave, ours genuinely cried! Thank you so much for the most incredible stay & memories @foweyhall, can’t recommend it more.
- We visited during a really stormy week so spent most of our time in the hotel {absolutely no hardship, it was heaven for us all} but then on our last sunny day, we maxed out on the local area taking the foot ferry over to Polruan for an explore which the kids loved, there are beaches over there, gorgeous views back to Fowey and if you walk right to the top of the hill, a playground with 360 degree views. Fowey itself has lots of proper Cornish bakeries, restaurants and upmarket seaside shops.
- Further afield there’s the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and countless seaside towns and beaches around but we ran out of time!
It was amazing during the storm in April so I can’t even imagine what just how incredible it would be in the summer! Not a cheap break but it does include so much. Childcare is hardly ever included in UK hotels and especially not without a lower age limit!
My only criticism is that the food could be a bit better, breakfast was decent but not artisan. And dinner is expensive for the quality of food versus what’s available locally. We ended up picking up bits from town for our dinner and then ordering the kids room service if they needed it.
