A Guide to North Norfolk with Kids

We’ve been going to North Norfolk every year since 2013 in all different seasons. It’s the perfect mix of coast and countryside, everywhere is only around 20 minutes away and it’s half the distance to get to from London compared to Devon or Cornwall. Super child and dog friendly, we discover something new every time so here’s a list of favourites if you’re planning a trip…

Stay // we’ve stayed in various @airbnb over the years in different locations of differing £ and stayed @littlenorfolkcottage twice but for the past 3 summers we’ve camped @pinewoodswellsnextthesea campsite which is the very best location! Super close to walk to both the beach & Wells next the sea town. They have both static caravans to hire as well as pitches for caravans/campervans. They have a small playground, a great shop and different food trucks that come each evening. The toilet/shower blocks are very clean and they’re really sustainable. It’s surrounded by beautiful countryside and you get gorgeous sunsets each evening. They’re owned by the Holkham estate so you get a voucher for free parking at Holkham Hall.

Eat //

@fatcow.burgers & soft serve in a meadow. Such a unique place we loved for lunch, check their instagram/facebook for opening hours, seasonal.

@2magpiesbakery in Wells for morning croissants & cinnamon rolls 🥐

@frenchsfandc are the best 🐟🍟

@eastcoastgelato 🍨

@erics__pizza at Drove Orchards with a gorgeous playground outside & lovely shops/ice cream/apple orchards. Such a lovely place to hang out for lunch or dinner

@thecrabhut for amazing seafood rolls at a great price

@randysseafoodnorfolk truck for 🦞

@flournextthesea is a new pizza place in Wells which looked good

@WhiteHorseBrancasterStaithe is a multi award winning gastro pub overlooking the sea, we love the food here for a fancier dinner

- The beaches are huge & amazing. We love Wells/Holkham, Brancaster, Old Hunstanton in an evening for sunsets &

- Hire a @thehappyhuts beach hut for the day if you can reserve well in advance. They’re iconic, a lot of fun and really helpful for a beach day to have a base/deck chairs etc. try to get one with a hammock!

- Go crabbing by the Wells harbour just before high tide, you can hire sustainable kits 🦀

- Fab adventure playground @holkhamestate you just pay parking for or can cycle to & lovely food outlets & impressive grounds to cycle around & spot deer

- sandringhamestate has an epic playground, one of the best we’ve been to, you again only pay to park.

- The shops in Wells just get better & better, I love @bringingtheoutsidein @nomadandthebowerbird & @ocotillo.uk

- Pick plums @leith_house_orchards if you’re in season.

We’ve never made it to @bewilderwood_norfolk or @pensthorpeuk as we always spend most of our time on the beach but I’ve heard great things about both if you’ve got more time or a rainy day.

Other favs we didn’t even make it to on this recent trip ; @stiffkeystores Blakeney & Cley, @wivetonhall fruit farm and Holt is a gorgeous town filled with sweet antique shops.
